The Middle Guil

An Alpine classic, this section of the Guil starts with an impressive series known as 'Tripple Step'. In reasonable water levels this section is a solid grade 4, with a few drops that call for inspection. However, the majority of the river is excellent read and run fun, with some good punchy holes too!

Briançon Gorge

This section has fantastic scenery as you paddle the lower part of Briançon old town. This river is classed as countinuous grade 3, but in high water this can reach grade 4. The river is rocky and technical with a couple of fun gorges and is a nice introduction to technical paddling.

Briançon Old Town

Located in Briancon, a fortified mountain town in the Hautes-Alpes department of Provence, it is the highest city in Europe sitting at 1,350 metres abut sea level. Experience

Via Ferrata

You will notice that as you paddle the rocks high above the river have ladders, rungs and steel cables fixed in. This is known as Via Ferrata (Italian for iron path). So why not broaden your adventures and have a go at this too. This is great way to explore the rivers from another spectacular point of view, and if you have experience in climbing, you can generally use these without the need for a guide. Simply clip in and climb!
